Born and raised in Miami, Florida, Tikia Van Putten is a compassionate leader with a lifelong commitment to service and community empowerment. She earned her Associate of Arts degree in Social Work from Miami Dade College and continued her education at Florida International University where she pursued her Bachelor’s degree. Her background in social work shaped her deep understanding of human connection, compassion, and the transformative power of giving back—principles that guide her daily leadership within the Back to Hope Foundation.

As the Assistant Executive Director of the Back to Hope Foundation, Tikia plays a vital role in supporting the Executive Director and ensuring the seamless operation of all programs and initiatives. She helps coordinate the foundation’s signature summer workshops—Catch the Vision and R.A.A.W. (Reading, Arts, Arithmetic, Writing)—overseeing logistics, staff communication, and student engagement. Tikia’s leadership ensures that each program runs smoothly, from planning and staffing to student participation and showcase events. Her attention to detail and strong organizational skills make her indispensable to the foundation’s success.

Beyond program management, Tikia handles day-to-day administrative responsibilities, including scheduling, volunteer coordination, and reporting. She serves as a bridge between the foundation and community partners, strengthening relationships that enhance outreach and impact. Tikia also contributes to fundraising efforts, grant writing, and media initiatives—helping amplify the foundation’s mission to inspire, educate, and empower underserved youth and families through storytelling and creative expression.

Tikia is known for her hands-on leadership style and genuine care for people. She trains staff, monitors program effectiveness, and helps resolve challenges with grace and professionalism. Above all, she embodies the foundation’s core values of compassion, excellence, creativity, and community. Her calm presence and unwavering dedication ensure that the Back to Hope Foundation not only sustains its mission but continues to grow and thrive.
