Primary Responsibilities of the Advisory Board of Directors President:

1. Leadership & Governance

  • Provide strategic direction and oversight to ensure the foundation achieves its mission and vision.

  • Lead and facilitate board meetings, ensuring productive discussions and effective decision-making.

  • Oversee the development of policies and ensure compliance with all legal and ethical responsibilities.

  • Serve as a key representative of the foundation to donors, partners, and the public.

  • Uphold and enforce the foundation’s bylaws, governance structure, and organizational best practices.

2. Board Development & Engagement

  • Recruit, mentor, and develop board members to strengthen the leadership team.

  • Ensure board members fulfill their governance and fundraising responsibilities.

  • Foster collaboration and communication among board members to support strategic initiatives.

  • Organize annual board retreats or training sessions to enhance board effectiveness.

3. Financial Oversight & Fundraising

  • Oversee the financial health of the foundation by reviewing budgets, financial reports, and funding strategies.

  • Work with the Treasurer and Executive Director to ensure responsible financial management.

  • Lead fundraising efforts by engaging major donors, securing sponsorships, and developing strategic partnerships.

  • Advocate for financial sustainability through grant applications, corporate sponsorships, and individual giving campaigns.

4. Strategic Planning & Program Oversight

  • Guide the foundation’s long-term planning, ensuring alignment with the mission and community needs.

  • Work with the Executive Director to monitor program effectiveness and impact.

  • Provide oversight for key initiatives, including the "Catch the Vision" Summer Workshop and the "Create a Future" Fall Program.

  • Ensure that youth participants receive high-quality education and mentorship in film, media, and digital arts.

5. External Relations & Advocacy

  • Serve as an ambassador for the Back to Hope Foundation, promoting its mission and programs to the broader community.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with donors, sponsors, media professionals, and philanthropic organizations.

  • Represent the foundation at public events, industry conferences, and networking opportunities.

  • Advocate for policies and initiatives that support youth education and workforce development in media and technology.

6. Collaboration with the Executive Director

  • Work closely with the Executive Director to set priorities, establish goals, and oversee implementation.

  • Provide guidance and support in managing challenges, growth opportunities, and organizational development.

  • Ensure that leadership transitions and succession planning are effectively managed.

7. Accountability & Performance Evaluation

  • Oversee the foundation’s overall performance and impact measurement.

  • Conduct regular evaluations of the Executive Director’s performance.

  • Ensure that the foundation operates with transparency, accountability, and ethical standards.

  • Address any organizational risks or challenges to maintain integrity and effectiveness.

Key Qualifications & Skills:

  • Strong leadership, governance, and strategic planning experience.

  • A passion for youth development, education, and media/film production.

  • Excellent fundraising, networking, and advocacy skills.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with board members, staff, donors, and community partners.

  • Strong understanding of non-profit management and financial oversight.
