Zulma Van Putten is a passionate early childhood educator with over 20 years of experience nurturing and shaping young minds. Her career has been defined by her dedication to helping kindergarten students develop a strong academic foundation and a lifelong love for learning. Beyond the classroom, Zulma has contributed to tutoring programs, research fellowships, and professional development initiatives, continually expanding her expertise and reaffirming her commitment to student success and educational excellence.

Recognizing the growing number of children entering school without essential foundational skills, Zulma founded R.A.A.W. (Reading, Arts, Arithmetic, Writing) — a summer initiative under the Back to Hope Foundation umbrella designed to equip students in kindergarten through second grade with the tools they need to thrive. The program’s mission is to prepare young learners with core skills in literacy, numeracy, and creativity, fostering confidence and academic readiness from the earliest years. Its visionis to create a future where every child enters school empowered to learn, imagine, and excel throughout their educational journey.

Zulma’s academic achievements reflect her pursuit of excellence. She earned her degrees from Miami-Dade Community College, a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida, and Master’s and Education Specialist degrees from Barry University, including two master’s degrees in education and an advanced specialization in computer technology. This diverse academic background allows her to integrate traditional teaching with innovative approaches that engage today’s learners.

Throughout her career, Zulma has been recognized for her compassion, creativity, and commitment to student growth. She believes that education is not only about academics but also about cultivating curiosity, confidence, and character. Her classroom is a place where children feel valued, inspired, and encouraged to reach their fullest potential.

 

Through the R.A.A.W. Initiative and her decades of service in education, Zulma Van Putten continues to be a driving force for positive change in early childhood learning. Her vision and leadership serve as a beacon of hope for families and communities, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to begin their educational journey with strength, imagination, and purpose.
